cdrecord and 2.6 kernel

Whenever I try to burn a CD with cdrecord on my system with a 2.6.1 kernel I get alot of numbers thrown at me and then it fails. I know this is because under 2.6 kernels I don't use SCSI emulation anymore, but how do I get my CDRW burner working?

what are the - in front of the dev and speed for?

ive always just done:

cdrecord dev=0,0,0 speed=2 filename.iso

i have to set my speed to 2 so it will work properly. ihave a pos burner and cheep media.

what is the command for cdrecord to detect your CDRW? try that first then put in the correct dev=X,X,X

OK I just needed to specify an ATAPI: in front of the device name in the dev option.

[edit]
When I do that I get this error message:
