u need fuseiso though configured for your user to make it work though... but u can find info on how to that in the site above... it's a very good software.... I heard something about a software called cdemu, and there's a gui version called kcdemu, it integrates to the kde systray, unfortunatelly it's only for kde, and I use gnome, so i couldn't test that function yet... good luck there
I use Debian Lenny, Xfce and Thunar and it's quick and easy to mount/unmount .iso images from Thunar's right click context menus. I already had fuse installed for ntfs-3g, sshfs and encfs and it's a great tool.
Well, and, what if I have a dvd iso, for example, and I want to to play it without mounting or burning, what can be done?
Is there any device driver that can do the trick?

If you mean movies then vlc and mplayer play dvd iso images, so does totem in some distributions. I'm pretty sure that kaffeine can do this too.
