Capture video application?

Dear Linux lovers,

I would like to capture TV programs and old VHS video tapes with my Pinnacle PCTV Rave analog capture card.

I would like to do this with a simple program. That is, I would not like to install (compile?) the dreaded MythTV, nor Freevo. There MUST be someting simpler out there!

Any suggestions?

P.S. I use Debian 3.1 Sarge (stable).

Hello and welcome to LQ!

does this help?

installing isn't always compiling, and compiling isn't as bad as it sounds. check out this link:

there ya go.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the freshmeat link. A few programs there are suited for analogue video capture (nuppelvideo, nvcap). One of them does not exist anymore, the other does not compile: says I don't have mjpeg tools etc. installed, all of which are installed and work just fine. Probably the source code is to old or something.....?
Elas,, no succes there.

I hope so. There are not that many good Debian packages around for video capture progs.
