I first used Mandrake on my computer, but some days ago I switched to a new version of Ubuntu. It is much better than mandrake, but when I want to play any music file (mp3, wma, mid, etc.) an error appears.
I tried all different mediaplayers from Ubuntu, but it doesn't help. But the user manual says that the Mplayer should be able to play the music. Does anyone know how I can solve this??
Ubuntu doesn't have by default support for mp3 format and wma also. This comes for various video formats like Windows Media, RealNetworks, and QuickTime. All that due to pantent infrindgement.
I found this link http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/...sic-and-movies
hope it's helpful on how to install support for all these formats
I made an printscreen, for interested people, (www.geocities.com/annemakip/Schermafdruk.png) When I try to install a plugin, or an other media player, I have to use the 'make' command in Konsole, to install it. But when I try to, an other error appears and tell me that I can't use 'make'. ("Command not found")
So, how do I have to handle this???

Please take a look at this tutorial, just go throught it and try setting up as much as possible and you will have all kind of media played by your Ubuntu box [MP3 included]
