can't launch KMail after upgrade

Debian "unstable", w/ KDE, on 2.6.8.1 kernel.

Ran apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade as per usual, but it (I think) broke KMail. This is possibly the first time that "unstable" has actually been "unstable" on this system, but in any case, I'd like to fix the problem.

Clicking the KMail icon produces error message: KDEInit could not launch 'kmail'.
Attempting to run from the command line in a terminal window produces error message: Segmentation fault.

Any ideas?

have you rebooted? also try removing kmail (apt-get remove kmail) and then reinstall. can you launch kontact and check your mail?
