First install UT but only its binary data not the CD-ROM files yet. After UT install its binary files. Mount the CD and manually copy directories:
Maps (*.unr)
Music (*.umx)
Sounds (*.uax)
Textures (*.utx)
System (*.u;*.int)

Run UT. You may need to configure the rights to the directory.

If you already have UT installed in Windows. You can copy the files from there so you don't have read only permissions on the files.

I saw the pattern of UT in Windows and LINUX, so I just did it manually.

Justlinux.com also have the same instructions but I go in more depth.

Pretty good for a LINUX

The directories that I listed is on the CD. If you don't have the CD. You can always borrow the CD from a friend.

I was having the same problem with mounting the cdRom and got UT (2000) ut-428-install.run to work by:

bash$ ---> switching to root,
bash$:export SETUP_CDROM=/path/to/cdrom
bash$:/path/to/setUp_file

No problems installing this way using that export command.

But now I am getting an error saying it cannot find the file 'Entry'.... so off to figure out wtf is up with this.

Oh and Electro --> you can find them at www.lokigames.com or if you just search for linux installs of your game of choice you might find them. One thing about the UT disc. If you are like me and have a version that came with my SoundBlaster card, then you have to install version 428, then upGrade to the noDelta-436 version. UT2k3 I am not sure because I havent installed it.

Entry or Entry.unr is a map file. Its only 11617 bytes. Do a search on the CD and copy it to Maps in the ut directory. Set the permisssion on the file so it is the same as the other files.

dunno if this helps but heres a tip for the ut2003 setup, when it asks for disk 1 it means disk 2, when it asks for disk 2 it means disk 3, i dont think it asks for the actual first disk but if it does, then i think it calles it the setup disk or something.
