Does your sound work in any other applications? Or is it just Flash that is not working? Try playing a video or audio file in mplayer (or whatever audio/video app you use), and post up the results.

Sorry it took me so long to respond -- I've been busy lately.

Two questions:

1) Was your sound ever working prior to this? Or is this the first time that you've attempted to use sound?

2) When you say that your "volume is all the way up" and that your "speakers are on", are you talking about the hardware or software settings? That is, besides checking to make sure that the "volume knob" on your speakers is all the way up, have you also run alsamixer and made sure that your volume is all the way up there, and that everything is unmuted (if any of the volume bars say "MM" below them, they are muted, and you need to go to each one that is muted, and press "M" to unmute it, then press 'Esc' to save your changes.

$ speakertest -c 2 -D hw:0

Works? or no-go? Change to hw:1 or hw:2 if you have multiple devices. Which you might need to reindex since most browsers default to 0, with no easy way to change that.

$ alsamixer -c 0

If you installed / reinstalled something, alsa MUTES the audio levels by default. -c 1 for the second card and so forth.
