Cant get access to FlightGear Simulator model files.

FlightGear (the free simulator) is great but i cant access the modle files to change the plane files. What is the best way to get access. I am running it under windows 98 untill i can get it installed under linux mandrake 8.0. The dos command line option that they give dosent work and i cant get a script ( a .batch file) to access the files to load the new plane file. any ideas?

Okay, so what's the .bat file, and what is the error? I don't use either Flightgear, or DOS (well, much) so be easy on me.
