On most computers, you have to press DEL or F2 when the system starts up if you want to access the BIOS configuration tool.

When you boot your system, there should be a message that tells you how you can enter your BIOS. You should see this message before GRUB shows up and should press the key combination before you see the GRUB screen.

The documentation which came with the machine should tell you how to enter BIOS setup. If you don't have this documentation then your best shot is noting down the manufacturer and BIOS version at boot time and googling to try to find the documentation. Check the manufactures website.

If it's a machine with a CRT monitor, turn the monitor on a few seconds before starting the machine - the warm up time for some monitors is longer than the time the BIOS splash is displayed. You'll have to be quick in either case.

Maybe you can tell us what make/type computer it is.

To add to it:
If it's an older Compaq, the key is F10 to enter the BIOS setup. However, those compaqs have a BIOS setup utility installed on the HD and that might have gone missing during a repartion exercise. In that case you have to download the utility, put it on floppy and boot from floppy first.

if there are win xp and red hat 9.0 on a pc ... i think most probably that pc can bootup from cdrom from bios ...

give them your pc modal and make , if its a bios setting problem , it should be easy to solve ...
