Cannot start Tomcat and get "The BASEDIR environment variable is not defined correctl

I installed the Tomcat 5.5.23 under "/opt/jboss/tomcat". Here is also the home for user 'tomcat'.

The first time I started the Tomcat I got error message:
Code:
Neither the JAVA_HOME nor the JRE_HOME environment variable is defined
At least one of these environment variable is needed to run this program
Then I added following codes in the "catalina.sh":
Code:
JAVA_HOME="/usr/local/jdk1.6.0"
As I started the Tomcat again I got:
Code:
The BASEDIR environment variable is not defined correctly
This environment variable is needed to run this program
Where and how should set the JAVA_HOME?

I solved the problem now. Simply make all .sh files executable.
