Cannot start connection, /root not owned by root ???!!


Hi guys...
I ve got slack 10.2 I booted the system and wanted to use tkpppoe to start my internet connection but Iam getting the followign error:

Security Alert: Can not start connection, /root is not owned by root !!!!

Any guesses ?

Um, chown -R root /root ?

do you have to specify both user and group, like this?

chown -R root:root /root

Ive done that ... it did not work.....anyhow.....how could this have happened ?

does the output of ls -l show it is already owned by root?

The /root directory is actually owned by root.......so Iam really confused here...Iam still getting the same error ?
