Cannot see Samba share through VPN tunnel from win98 client

Hello. I have a windows 98 machine and I have a VPN Client for a Cisco PICS VPN Router installed. I log into a Windows Domain to tunnel into the remote network. The issue I am having is that using what I believe is a properly configured vpn client, from my windows machine, in Network Neighborhood, I can not access linux shares setup with Samba on the remote network, although I can see their host names. I do not have this issue with Windows hosts (and their shares). Locally on the network, from any windows machine, all linux hosts and shares are accessable.

I realize that this is a linux site and the mere mention of Windows (which I hate, but have to work with) may disuade some from offering advice. I guess I would just like to know if I am up shit creek or perhaps there is tweak to the Samba config I don't know about which would let me see and access these Samba shares. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Not here, my good friend.

As for your problem, can you see the samba shares when you are not VPN'd (i.e. local connect)? There could be a couple of issues at work, depending on your samba setup, including something as simple as permissions set on the shares. Have you run testparm against the smb.conf file? Is ipchains blocking the connection? Is the workgroup name correct?
