[Resolved] "Cannot open dev/console" - New Kernel
Hi. I built the 2.6.24.1 kernel and get a "/sbin/init: 432: cannot open dev/console: No such file" kernel panic error upon boot. I've had this problem in the past but I'm really needing a rebuild because of the RAM limit in my current kernel.
/dev/console and /dev/null exist as expected with all the right flags. It's my understanding that udev is supposed to sort this out upon boot but something isn't happening here. I've tryed booting with the initrd image (error as above) and without ("set root" when it is set") so obviously I'm missing something here. My grub menu.lst is correct though, that I am sure.
Any help much appreciated.
[Edit: Just noticed the kernel sub-forum. Apologies.]
