Cannot login with kdm

KDM stopped letting me log in as a non-root user yesterday. I had updated my kernel with some new DRI drivers. It now gives me the message:
AUDIT: Thu Nov 27 10:03:36 2003: 161 X: client 2 rejected from local host
in /var/log/kdm.log
I have rebuilt the kernel with my old drivers but it still won't log me in.
I have tried removing the .Xauthority drivers from my home dir, and checked that /dev/dri and /dev/null have the correct permissions.
Could anyone help at all?
Thanks
Guy
