Cannot install Realplayer


Hi
I am trying to install realplayer as below

rpm -ivh RealPlayer-10.1.0.3114-20070503.i586.rpm

and i am getting error as:
error: can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/__db.000

How can i resolve it and install on FEDORA 8.

How can i install as root, i am not able to use sudo command.

Use su as the command to become root, then enter the root password when prompted. Then install the RPM. Have you tried using YUM for this?

Thank you, i have installed realplayer, but i could not play any media in it and i am getting error as

The application realplay.bin has crashed.
Information about the crash has been successfully collected.

This application is not known to bug-buddy, therefore the bug report cannot be sent to the GNOME Bugzilla. Please save the bug to a text file and report it to the appropriate bug tracker for this application.

Still i cannot play any media in realplayer, what might be the problem, help me please.
