I am fairly new to linux and I have Suse 10.2

When I try to install privoxy 3.0.3-1 rpm package with yast, this error occurs:



Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: groupadd: GID 73 is not unique.

Any ideas on how to fix this and successfully install privoxy? Thank you all in advance.

What does:

grep 73 /etc/group

produce?

Also... are you getting group info from anywhere else, LDAP, NIS, etc??

This is what I get:

# grep 73 /etc/group
privoxy:!:73:



But if I do
# groupdel privoxy

And then I try grep 73 /etc/group, I get nothing, not even an error.

What does:

grep privoxy /etc/passwd

return?

grep 73 /etc/passwd

??

Just for fun, I uninstalled privoxy, removed the group and user stuff for privoxy and reinstalled... all under an updated 10.2... everything worked just fine (for me).

When I try those two, nothing is returned. I don't even get an error...

# grep privoxy /etc/passwd
# grep 73 /etc/passwd
#


I don't know why it's not working. How can I make it not use GID 73 ? That's obviously where the problem is originating.
