cannot execute nm-applet as a normal user

^C** Message: PID 0 (we are 3839) sent signal 2, shutting down...

NetworkManager starts normally at boot time but executing nm-applet as a normal user gives this error. I thought of it as a policykit issue but I've seen nothing that could lead to this error in /usr/share/polkit/actions/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.policy
It looks like It could be a DBus issue maybe...
