cannot execute binary file on a selfx file

I am trying to install HP's JetAdmin software on our Red Hat AS 4 version 2.6.9-11.EL. It is running on a Dell 7250 Itanium server.

I downloaded the file from artwork.com and moved it to /tmp. I attempt to execute it(./hpwebjet_linux.selfx) and get "cannot execute binary file".

I've changed the file permissions to 500, 555, 700 and 777 but get the same message.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The site I downloaded the file from didnt have any troubleshooting info on the installation instruction page. I e-mailed the site but did not receive a response from them.

I also tried to download a driver from HP that is for Fedora Core 4 Linux. I get the same error when I try to run the installation script (wja80-3366-f3-2.selfx). HP support also didnt respond to my questions.

One thought that a collegue had was that these that I am downloading are designed for 32 bit Linux, and we are running 64 bit.

Im just guessing that there are release notes within the selfx file, but I need to be able to run it to get to them.

I appreciate your assistance!

Did you try to run the command I suggested?

Code:
file hpwebjet_linux.selfx
Please post the result, and your colleague may well be right.

Cheers,
Tink
