cannot download stuff from the internet when using mozilla

Hi everybody,

I like mozilla, but for some strange reason I cannot download anything from the internet when using mozilla. I don't understand why the broawser is not reacting to "right click" - "Save link as". I am running fedora 1 sys. (if it'll make a difference).

Thanx,

xone

I know this sounds odd. But my mozilla displayed that behaviour
too about a week ago. Another symptom was that it didn't remember
any saved passwords, and also died on me when trying to save
settings from the preferences dialog.

I "fixed" it by re-installing Mozilla, the distro I'm using is Slack 9.1...

Cheers,
Tink

Do the links work if you just click them normally? Many links are redirects these days, which don't respond well to "Save Link as", but do in fact redirect you when clicked and then open up a download window (if you have set the Moz download manager to ask you where to save every file).

Which Mozilla version, btw? And how did you install it (from the Mozilla site, or from a repository for the distro)?

Browser Links

I had a similar problem with mozilla. Some of the links would simply not open or download, I did notice a common occurance, they had like a space in them or something that ie had no trouble recognizing buy mozilla definitely did not like, so i would copy the link on my windows box and then edit it send it over and use wget to get it on the linux box.

Thanx everybody ! I don't know what mozilla version I have nor do I know how to look it up. It was installed from the fedora core CDs and then I updated it by using "yum". I think that reinstallation might fix the problem since everything was ok few months and then all of a sudden this pbronlem occured. How do I reinstal mozilla ?

Open Mozilla.

Help menu=>About Mozilla.

Or mozilla --version in a terminal window will work as well.

Mozilla 1.6.1 rpms can be found on the apt repository at http://people.ecsc.co.uk/~matt/repository.html#apt; see Fedora Wiki - Fedora Sources, Fedora apt and yum repositories, [freshrpms.net] - Apt, and FedoraNEWS.ORG for instructions on how to install apt for Fedora Core 1.
