cannot connect to x server

hi guys,
the problem i m facing is while installing fc5 in the X mode, a response comes that " cannot connect to the X server " and after this the screens gets black and nothing further happens. I faced this problem while insatalling Obuntu also. So i trying now with FC5 and still facing the same problem. suggest a solution .....
