Can you install an operating system in VMware Player?

I guess this is just a general question that might lead into other questions.

I just installed VMware Player on Ubuntu 9.04 and I want to install another distro in it. I went to a place called http://www.easyvmx.com/ where they create a virtual profile.

Well, I want to know... can you like install another operating system in there? So that way I could take out the live CD and have it always be available to me?
Also, will it actually install on my hard drive or within Ubuntu?

BTW - The other distro I am trying to get installed is Fedora. I want to see it run inside this rather than continuing to partition my meagre hard drive

Indeed you can. Most distros & most Windows versions will run just fine in VMware player. The only limitation is that you will not have any hardware acceleration, meaning 3D games and compiz are not possible.

Please clarify -- do you mean VMware running on a Mac host, or VMware hosting a Mac client OS?
