can we run graphics and text mode simultaneously
 
hi linux gurus,
can anyone reply me on can we run graphics and text mode on linux console simultaneously on the same console.
or atleast can we just graphically create a canvas using svgalib which is spilted into 2 partions in one partion i should b able to view my image and in another can i run xterm ar any such terminal emulator ......plz reply me if anyone has a idea abt it.

When you're in X (graphical mode), hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 or any function key up to F6 to get a console login. You will find your graphical session on Ctrl+Alt+F7 when you want to switch back. You can jump around between different sessions in this way.
