can this cause problems?
 
I ran make bzImage then realized i for got to enable ntfs read support as a module. I made the change with make menuconfig the ran make modules and make modules_install. Can this cause problems.

Yeah, should be fine. But hopefully you still remembered to "make dep" after doing the configuration change.

Really, "make bzImage" doesn't take all that long...

it says with the 2.6 kernel that make dep is not needed. to be honest I don't think I used make dep when I did my 2.4.23 . I did not know I needed to.
