can I use Ndiswrapper with any Windows device driver?

I use Ndiswrapper for my wireless driver, but I remember someone on LQ telling that Ndiswrapper can be used for other things. (Couldn't find the thread, even with a search of only my threads.) Is that true? If so, is the procedure the same--just type "ndiswrapper -i [name of driver]" and then "modprobe ndiswrapper"? Or do I need to change the syntax or something depending on what kind of device it is?

It would help if I could use Ndiswrapper with the driver that came with my new USB enclosure (assuming the driver is needed), because the drivers are for Windows [sigh...].

Technically ndiswrapper can work with any Windows driver that uses the NDIS API, but WLAN drivers are it's primary goal and development. Nothing else is guaranteed to work, but that certainly doesn't mean it is impossible.

As for a USB drive enclosure, they don't require drivers outside of the standard USB mass storage.

Using usb mass storage support in your linux kernel should work, unless you are talking about a very exotic device.

And? The drive enclosure is supposed to contain a drive at a given time, isn't it? Without a drive, what functionality do you exactly expect from it? Try to describe the problem a bit more or provide us with a link to the product if you can
