Although the post above is probably not what you wanted, I'll say this, back when I tried it, was probably still on this Vector GOLD 5.8 system, the installer script was in a language not supported by bash on my system.
Good luck with that. I kind of got Qemu working, eventually even got around to getting KVM working which did in fact speed up the emulation but still Windows XP responsiveness was less than adequate inside the VM.
Oh and there is a way to let Windows windows(LOL) share the desktop with your Linux windows by using a remote desktop client. Basically your Windows windows are now handled by X. Oh lookie here I found you pictures and a guide:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Se...tualization%29
While I was there I also saw a VMware on Ubuntu article, shame you didn't search:

Guys, are you all kidding or did I say something wrong?..
I said "nothing APPROPRIATE", not "NOTHING" at all....
The result which google gave us is full of instructions installing
VMware on Unbuntu Desktop, not on the Server...
So, I've got Ubuntu Server (look here guys, I've got the Server version of
Ubuntu not the Desktop one) and want to install on it VMware without other
installation processes (I mean, I don't want to install neither KDE, GNOME, Elightment
nor WindowMaker, fluxbox, blackbox and others)...
So, if you guys don't know how to help, and don't understand what am I saying
please ask at first what actually I want...
Thanks for response...
