Question can't install vmware tools

hi

running vmware workstation 6 with suse 10.2 as the guest.
OS works fine, but when i try to install vmware tools, it says...

"transaction failed: invalid path name component '/vmware tools/vmwaretools-6.0.1-55017.i386.rpm'"

any ideas?

Maybe a direction to start in - I saw something similar to this awhile back. Doesn't the tools install mount as a virtual cdrom on SUSE with just the single file? I think my box was getting confused with the real/physical cdrom I had. Granted I was running VMware Server 1.0.3 on a CentOS host with a SUSE guest.

And completely off topic - for anyone who has VMware Server 1.0.3 the upgrade to 1.0.4 fixed some major slow down problems.

It's looking for a directory off / called vmware-tools that probably isn't the correct location. What directory is the rpm file in?

i'm running it right off the cd image after i tell vmware to install the tools. should i just copy the file from the cd first and try it that way?

I'd try that and see how it goes.
