can't boot after kernel update

I am a total running Win Linux 2003, which uses 2.4.18. I tried to update to 2.4.27, and everything seemed to install ok, I was able to add the new kernel to lilo.

But what happens is that when I try to boot to the new kernel, the system immediately just restarts. If I select the old kernel in lilo, it boots ok. I must have overlooked something obvious, but what?

Probably didn't compile the correct support. I'd say start from scratch and go over your existing config to be sure, then start a new compile unfortunately if you can't pin point the problem. Your boot logs might point to something as well.
