what's the message?

also there are other boot images, did you try all of them?

Do you have boot from cd-rom enabled in your bios?

If the CDs that you have were downloaded or obtained from a re-seller, then they may be bad. Can you obtain a fresh set of CDs?

The CDs are ok because a friend of mine gave me them a week ago and he has been able to install them without a problem. (in a fresh, formated machine)

the error i get is "syslinux 1.48 linux-mandrake boot failed" (when i use the floopy, when i try to make use the cd it just says "boot from cd: Failure" and starts to load windows xp)

DavidPhillips 06-27-2002 06:34 PM

the floppy might be bad, or you need to try a different image

make the image disk again with a new floppy

Here's another idea, get a win98 boot disk if you can, if it works, boot with cd support, most distros I've tried have a boot to install from dos thingy like linload or somethin on the cd. often they have some sort of autoboot.bat in a utils folder on the first cd
