I am trying to upgrade a certain program (Creative Solutions Accounting) on a RedHat Linux 7.2 server from an XP workstation. I can upgrade every other program except this one. I've asked Creative Solutions for help, but they are clueless. The upgrade starts but when it encounters certain files it says it can't access them or overwrite them. I manually delete that file and then it hits another one. This seems so strange that it only happens to this one program.

For the past year, I've had to copy the entire program folder to another workstation, upgrade there, and then copy it all back to the server. Major pain!

Sounds like a permissions issue with those files ON THAT SERVER. Since XP doesn't use permissions in the same sense that Linux does, and the fact that you can do the upgrade on another workstation and copy it back to the server, it seems most likely to be a permissions issue.

If you are the system administrator for that server, try installing the upgrade as root.

If you are not the sysadmin, you will probably have to get sysadmin to install the upgrade for you.
