can't select ftape for compile
 

Trying to compile a 2.6.15 kernel with the ftape driver. I am unable to select the ftape driver sub-menu at all. I can do so just fine on other machines that don't even have a tape drive, but for some reason the kernel menuconfig won't let me do it on this specific machine.

Anyone have any ideas why?

Ok, figured out for whatever reason ftape is disabled for SMP configured systems.

Now what I need is to know why, and is there a "right" way for getting ftape on an smp system working? At this point I"m thinking I'm just gonna edit the Kconfig to exclude that particular rule, but maybe thats more problems than its worth.
