can't scan from Open Office

Open Office Writer does not recognize scanner and OO dialog box for scanner does not allow me to configure or define scanner. I am using OO version 2.0

Is this because OO cannot recognize or utilize the SANE API? Does OO scanner recognition only work with Windows which uses TWAIN?

My scanner is recognized by other apps such as GIMP and XSANE.

my Linux distro is SUSE 10
Linux 2.6.13-15.10-smp #1 x86_64 GNU/Linux
scanner is an HP Scanjet6200c

Is there a resolution?

Oo works perfectly for me like this:
Insert -> Graphics -> Scan -> Select Source. Select your source
Then Insert -> Graphics -> Scan -> Request The image is scanned and imported

Otherwise, use gimp or kooka or whatever to scan your image, save it to your desktop or wherever, then in OO Insert... Graphics.. From File.

I find the second method easier.

Nice that it works for you but as I said

There is no scanner source in the OO dialog. (see http://home.earthlink.net/~myjunketc/data/OOscanner.jpg for a picture of the OO scanner dialog)

The scanner recognition problem only happens with OO.

This is an HP 62000C scanner - it is a SCSI device. It is defined as /dev/sg1 with these privileges
crw-rw-rw- 1 root disk 21, 1 2006-05-30 04:51 /dev/sg1
and my user name is a member of the group disk.

Anyone able to help?
