can't reach new server
wresteling with a server for the past few days. finally got an older version of red hat on it. 7.3 to be exact. but i can't seem to get it on the nextwork completely. i can ssh out of it to one of my off site servers...but i can't ssh into it, nor can i ping the machine. i've already edited
/etc/resolv.conf and the etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 files. but that doesn't seem to be working. got any other places i can be looking or things i can be testing. maybe i forgot to install a package when i was installing the OS...if anyone has some ideas, i'd appreciate. |
well, i think 7.3 was default with ipchains up
did you choose install with firewall option? either edit /etc/sysconfig/ipchains or /etc/sysconfig/iptables -OR- Kill the firewall /etc/rc.d/init.d/ipchains stop |
i've already have a ipchain identical to one of my other production servers up. but just in case i've also "stopped" it. yet.....i still doesn't work. i can't even ping it. thnx though anybody with other ideas?
