can't make a config file for conky


ok,
i know i may sound like an idiot right now,
but i can't make a config file for conky.
i don't even know how to make a directory in it.
really,
i just can't install it.
help?

i tried all that and it keeps saying no such file or directory.

What are you actually putting in the rc?

There's a conky for slackware on my site: http://www.unrealize.co.uk/scripts which you can get some ideas from. Be aware though that to use it you need the weather and GrabWeather scripts installed and the locations set in the rc.

Are you making the .conkyrc executable and placing it in your ~ ?

ummmm.
probably not.
i'm really really new to all this linux stuff.
so i'm sure theres things i'm doing wrong.

It doesn't need to executable but it does need to be in you home directory, /home/<username>

thanks a lot.
but i still can't figure it out.
so i'm just going to give up and wait until i have a little more experience with the whole system before i try again.
