Can't install ucd-snmp package on red hat 9

I have been trying to install Ethereal for RedHat 9. The software requires a group of packages to be downloaded and installed [http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/rpms]. For one of the packages i have to have ucd-snmp installed.

It wasn't so i downloaded the ucd package. I'm sure I have the correct version and all...Unfortunately, when i tried to do a simple package install as usual (graphically in GNOME), nothing happens. No error messages or anything. It obviously does not install but if there were errors i would assume i would be prompted.

While I have had no problem installing most packages graphically, I did try doing this the shell way. This is what I did:
[root@localhost download]# rpm -i ucd-snmp-4.2.3-1.7.2.3s.1.src.rpm
[root@localhost download]#
<< nothing happens, no error messages, no strange debugging statements, and of course no sign that it did anything!>>

On the side note, I have had a few other "source" packages (*.src.rpm) which did the same thing. Another thing to mention is that I already have net-snmp installed, but I need ucd-snmp for ethereal.

I am far from computer illiterate but I am fairly new to linux - especially RH9. So any help would be appreciated.
