Can't install Openoffice.org 3 extensions

Using Debian Lenny. I installed OOo 3.1.1 from Lenny Backports. Want to install 2 extensions helpful for Basic macros; they are MRI and Xray.

When you download Xray you get an OOo Writer document with info about the extension, and it contains a macro that (maybe) installs the Extension. Pretty cool idea, but I don't think the extension actually got installed. This sounds like a harder issue than the one with MRI. If I can fix the MRI issue, maybe it will be the answer for Xray too.

When you download MRI, you get MRI-0.6.0.oxt, which you are supposed to install from within OOo with the Extension Manager. When I try to do that I get a couple of error messages (images attached). Note, my Extension Manager window is blank--apparently no extensions are installed.

MRI-0.6.0.oxt is an archive and you can view the contents with File Roller. The file that the first error message complains about isn't in the archive. The 2nd error message complains about config.xcs. There is a file by that name in the .oxt archive. I tried creating the directory path and extracting config.xcs into it. That led to an error message with a different weird directory but the same file shown as missing.

So I am kinda floundering. Could this be a "dependency"-type problem, where you need to have some Python extension installed before MRI?

Thanks for any help or just ideas.
