You don't have gcc installed or one of it's dependencies to compile with.

So if gcc is present, then what does your config.log tell you since it says to look there for more details?

If you are using Ubuntu (or one of its derivatives), try
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential
That should install gcc correctly along with any dependencies it needs.
