Can't get AAC codec to work with Mplayer

Yo.
I have Mandrake 10;
I've installed the newest version of mplayer (1-0.pre5) and libfaad2 via rpm.

I have a few videos I want to watch;
The video comes up just fine, but the audio, which is encoded in AAC, doesn't play at all.
I get the following message upon opening the file:
"Cannot find codec for audio format 0xFF"

I checked my /etc/mplayer/codecs.conf file and here is the section about AAC.

audiocodec faad
info "FAAD AAC (MPEG2/MPEG4 Audio) decoder"
status working
fourcc mp4a,MP4A
fourcc "AAC " ; Used in NSV
format 0xFF
format 0x6134706D
format 0x4134504D
driver faad
dll "libfaad2"

Any help is appreciated =)
