can't find firefox-cache afther try to put cache-dir into /dev/shm

Hi,everybody !

I followed some online how-to of setting firefox cache into /dev/shm to speed it up a little bit, after what i did , there is no cache-dir in /dev/shm, and the original cache DIR is empty either. can anyone please tell me what happened ?

browser.cache.disk.enable true (true and false i tried both)
browser.cache.disk.parent_directory /dev/shm/firefox-cache

this is not a big deal , but bothers me. any idea would be much appreciated !

the current and last few versions are not using it any longer
in the past there WAS a "/firefox/Cache" folder

I am betting those "online" guides were for ff13 and older

exactly, you are so right .

I have always beeing using firefox 12, cuz any newer version since then I've tried has a problem, which is after a while well-functioning thoese 'option button' in the 'menu bar' don't work any. after the firefox 19 has been released , as usual i gave it a try, and problem just remains, so i decided remove all '.mozilla' DIR, and then run firefox 19 again see if it works well, but it sill has this problem, so i return to firefox 12, and the old configuration about cache file on tmpfs can't work well as it did in old days.

So, where are the cache files now ? and how should I do to make it work? and does anyone have an idea about why any newer version than firefox12 doesn't work well ?

thanks so much !

Maybe I should describe a little bit more about the problem that shows on newer version than version 12 . any newer version works well at first , but eventually the menu bar buttons can't function properly, 'tools' 'bookmarks' etc. click on any of it, the drop-down menu shows up like fraction of a second then gone, every newer version has this problem , that makes me still stick with the firefox 12. I tried to use the whole new configre DIR '.mozilla', the problem remains . Hopefully, this can be solved here either.

thanks again !

sounds like a ram issue

dose Gnome work fine once firefox slows down ?
open a new virtual desktop ( one of the 4 )
and see

That's interesting. I did the same cache redirection some time ago, but recently found the cache dir always empty. I thought it had something to do with me having 16GB RAM...

More info on this would be appreciated.

so, current and last few versions just don't need 'Cache' anymore? I feel current version consume cpu much more than old versions , don't know why
