Can't ctrl+alt+f1-f6 out of X since setting xkblayout = eu

Hi...

I edited xorg.conf and added in xkblayout = eu, because I have an eu keyboard. Its a laptop(dell inspiron)...But now i can't ctrl+alt+f2 to another terminal...it works if i leave the xkblayout at its default, 'us'...

any ideas?
thanks,
boing.

The alt+f? keys work when its on 'us' settings, but all the other keys are mixed up, ", @, ;, etc etc.
Everything works fine on 'eu' or 'uk' settings, except alt+f?.

It must be because its a laptop keyboard.

Any help?
