Can't change IceWM background

Hi there,
I almost read all the icewm FAQ and a lot of thread on this topic but it just wont work. My ~/.icewm/preferences has this line :

Code:
DesktopBackgroundImage="00001073.xpm"
I have the image "00001073.xpm" in my ~/.icewm but when I try to run icewmbg I get this :

Code:
rognon@sourcemage:~$ icewmbg
icewmbg: using /home/rognon/.icewm for private configuration files
and then nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong ??

thx,
Rognon

Put it in 'prefoverride' and see what happens. Themes usually specify a background and take precedence over 'preferences'. Also need the full path to image.

Ok.
I've put the line :
Code:
DesktopBackgroundImage="/home/rognon/wallpapers/00001073.xpm"
in the default.theme file in /usr/share/icewm/themes/gtk2

Now I get a blue background and when I run 'icewmbg' I get this :
Code:
rognon@sourcemage:~$ icewmbg
icewmbg: using /home/rognon/.icewm for private configuration files
icewmbg: Warning: Loading of pixmap "/home/rognon/wallpapers/00001073.xpm" failed: XpmFileInvalid
X Error of failed request: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
  Major opcode of failed request: 62 (X_CopyArea)
  Resource id in failed request: 0x0
  Serial number of failed request: 104
  Current serial number in output stream: 110
I've double checked the path and the picture and everything seems ok. What have I done wrong ?

Hm. Only thing I can think of is that it's not an xpm. Sure it's not a png or jpg or something? If that's not it, you haven't done anything wrong that I can see, and I'm stumped.

Only thing is, as I say, that 'prefoverride' may be a better place for it (if the file doesn't exist, you can create it in ~/.icewm) - or that you might copy the theme to ~/.icewm/themes and edit it there. But neither of those have anything to do with working - just ease of editing as regular user. What you've done *should* work if the pic is a pic and the perms are right.

I've managed to solve my problem by using 'xloadimage'. But I still don't understand why 'icewmbg' doesn't work...

Late thought - sounds like you're starting it solo after X started. Maybe it has to do with how you're loading it. Try running 'icewm-session' instead or several startup sequences. Or don't worry about it if it works.

Yeah, "if it's not broken, don't fix it"
I'm gonna use 'xloadimage' for now.
