Cache Swap Directory Creation Problem

CACHE SWAP DIRECTORY CREATION PROBLEM

I am using RED HAT ENTERPRISE LINUX having default squid installed, Everything goes fine with squid . Only problem facing is related to cache directory.

I have created cache directory with other setting as below.

> mkdir /opt/cache
> chown squid.root /opt/cache
> chmod 775 /opt/cache

Above settings work properly with , Suse 9 [SLES] , RHEL3 , FC3 distribution.

Log messages is am getting are :

AFAIK the squid cache dir should be owned by user squid and group squid - not group root...

squid and rhel 4

This is nothing but the SELinux causes the trouble

solutions
do either one of this steps
1. goto firewall configuration tools and disable selinux and restart machine
2. edit /etc/selinux/config
you will find a entry selinux="enforce"
change to selinux="disabled"
and restart machine
3. in the command prompt run the command
setenforce 0

then run squid -z

rgrds
Rajesh

if it helped you plese mail me @
