Burning problem with k3b
I'm trying to burn a music CD in DAO. I use k3b v. 2.0.1 and cdrdao v. 1.2.2 . The music files are in WAV format.
I start up k3b v. 2.0.1, I pick cdrdao v. 1.2.2, I get my WAV files in order, I insert a blank Imation CD-R, and I pick "burn". But nothing happens. I only see "Writing-- elapsed time" and "Preparing write process....0%". The overall progress remains also at 0%. I wait, wait some more, and wait even longer but nothing happens. The lights on my CD-DVD burner don't even blink and the unit is quiet. What could be wrong?
Here's the debugging info from k3b:
System
-----------------------
K3b Version: 2.0.1
KDE Version: 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4)
QT Version: 4.6.3
Kernel: 2.6.32-1-mepis-smp
Used versions
-----------------------
cdrdao: 1.2.2
Kindly tell me if you know what's wrong and how I can fix this. [I usually have no troubles with k3b when not in DAO mode. But now I'd like to burn a music CD with DAO selected and have some problem I don't understand.]
That doesn't look like a wav file. What's more, I'd thought that you need an .iso for dao writing (as opposed of table of content = toc). Try "man cdrdao" to look up the supported source files.
<ooops> just took my own advice and did a "man cdrdao". It needs a .toc. How big is yours? </ooops>
<add> You can edit the toc file. Have a look what is inside. </add>

Got k3b working again
Thanks for your interest and for your help. With MEPIS's Synaptic, I did install GNOMEBaker and Brasero but both failed to work for some reason(s) unknown to me.
After much fiddling with removing and then re-adding the *.wav to each file and after finally finding out that if I want to use k3b in DAO mode (i. e. no 2 second gap between tracks), I have to leave 'Writing app' as 'Auto' instead of as 'cdrdao'. Then k3b works as it did before I wanted to use DAO.
Thanks for coming back and posting the solution. I wonder why K3b is programmed this way, might just be an oversight by the author, maybe you could file a bug...
