K, well I did all of that, and it still won't install in my computer. Does it matter how I am running linux, I am trying to do this, with KDE, on mandrake 9.1 Should I be trying with a different desktop?
post your .bash_profile and what version of java did you install? blackdowns java works great just so you know rather than sun but both work on drake, no problem. hopefully you got the jre, not the jdk (for developers)
i read through some of your old posts and ive never seen thos type of java errors before. only errors ive seen are related to the java virtual machine not installed. what happend when you do a " java -version" in a terminal?
also, i dont suggest you always use your root acount. i would use a regular user account as you can hose your system pretty easily. i know from experience and ive used a bunch of different distros. might want to try reinstalling java or blackdowns java like you said.
if you could post the exact error you get when you try to execute limewire. btw, did you happen to do a chmod on limewire to make it executable b4 you tried installing it?

that is exactly what it says when I try to install limewire. I can't seem to get any p2p software to work, anyone have any suggestions on what else to try, or where I can find rpm files for a decent p2p?
