Burning an iso
 

Okay here goes.

I got redhat linux installed the other day. All went well and thats what im using now. I went and started downloadin some more iso. now i want to burn them to a cd can i just use the burning software thats installed on redhat, if so what do i have to do, or do i have to get some other cd burning software

Okay i have an iso how do i burn it to a cd so its readable instead of and .iso?

Select the second tab on the bottom right.

Drag the iso image into the bottom window.

Select the bottom Tab

Set the options you want usally multsession off and fixate on. The recording speed the fastest your drive supports.

Then Click record.

Voila a Burned CD

KDE I've found to have better stuff, but a lot of people prefer gnome.

im using KDE but thats what i got for burn software already installed and it worked .... what else is there good?

AS he said K3b is better, and if your running KDE then there is no reason to run Gnome Toaster.

Check under the System menu you might already have it.

Okay thanks now i have another question thats sorta off subject. I have some apps that i want to get rid of like some of the extra mail clients and some other things. how do i go about doing that?

Thanks i have just two more unrelated questions.

1. how do I install .tar program files?
2. do you know anywhere else to get isos beside linuxiso.org becuase it seems to be down.

Depends on the program.

There is three types of tarballs (mainly three) tar -- tar.gz -- tar.bz2 . Too extract them

tar -xvf thefile.tar
tar -xvzf thefile.tar.gz
tar -xvjf thefile.tar.bz2

Will extract the tarball, inside there should be a file called INSTALL and or README.

It usually goes
./configure
make
make install

What Iso's are you looking for?
