build 32bit-kernel on 64bit kernel system

How to build 32 bit-kernel on 64bit system?

I can build 32bit user-space api via gcc -m32

But I use the same setting
/usr/bin/ld: skipping compatible /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.4.6/libgcc.a when searching for -lgcc

The incompatible question will take place.

How to solve this problem?

Any one know how to build 32 bit-kernel on 64bit system?

as you see ld gives a warning about skipping a 64bit lib. It is not an error, just a warning and of course it will not cause any problem.

Just specify the ARCH environment variable when configuring the kernel, like
Code:

ARCH=i386 make menuconfig
