bugzilla - installing perl DBD::mysql - what do these errors mean?

Hi All,

I'm working on installing bugzilla on CentOS. I had previously installed bugzilla as a test run on a red hat server with no problems. But that was a "Full" install. I'm working on installing one last componet for bugzilla, which is the DBD::mysql perl module. While trying to install, I get a few errors at the bottom of the output. Can someone direct me as to what exactly is causing the error?

This is the command I'm running
Code:
/usr/bin/perl -MCPAN -e 'install "DBD::mysql"'
This is the interesting part of the output:

Code:

I don't need much hand holding here, just need to know what file I need to install or update or configure.

Many thanks.

You're trying to link dynamically against the static libmysqlclient library. You need libmysql.so (or some versioned symlink).

Sorry forgot to update...

In the output that I must have read 20 times, I missed this one key line:

Code:
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.a(libmysql.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
I finally either edited a file to use the fPIC options, or I recompiled the mysql part to use that. I think I did both, but not 100% sure since it's been over a week.

Thanks,

I'll update with the correct info if/when I remember it.
