Browsers won't open correct urls in pine or thunderbird

We are using Fedora Core 2. When a URL is displayed in an email in pine or thunderbird, clicking on the URL opens the browser (netscape or mozilla), but does not display the URL. The browser just opens up to its home page. I also noticed this behavior trying to use the Help in VMWare. I clicked on help, which opens a browser, but it went to the browser's home page, not to the VMWare help files.

URLs in Netscape emails work fine.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Run gnome-default-applications-properties and enter the command to launch the browser of your choice followed by %s
firefox %s

Thanks, but that didn't work for pine. It still just brings up the home page of the browser and not the requested URL. I will check for thunderbird.

Doesn't work for thunderbird either.

Any other ideas?
