bootup screen resolution

I have no idea what I did, but right now every time my laptop boot up, the grub screen and all other bootup messages are displayed in a small center window, when I get to the gui, then everything is back to normal, if I do ctrl+alt+F(whatever num), the new terminal is displayed in a small center window on my screen as well, can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Check either /etc/lilo.conf or /boot/grub/menu.lst depending on what your using to boot.

Look for something mentioning vga. What probably hapening is that the kernel is trying to boot into a resolution that your laptop doesn't support. So try vga=ask so that it will request what resolution you want to use, then set vga= to the one that suits you best.
