Bootup prob, she hangs
 

First off I wanna start with whats up guys, this forum has been a huge help. Pure newbie..so here we go. Installin mandrake 8.1 so I can learn linux. After I install everything and restart it goes to the GUI and gets to the second icon for the boot process...and hangs. When I do it in the failsafe mode I see mounting proc filesystem:ok, running devFs deamon:ok, configuring kernal parameters:ok..then just sits there.. It installed perfectly on my other system, so I took that video and sound card and oput it in here. Other than that I only have an asus motherboard, P3 800mhz, and a 52 cdrom. Has anyone encountered this problem with the bootup? thanks, and in case I reposted I did search but found nothing. Ps, I believe its lilo, not grub

Thanks anyways guys, after several installs I figured I would try grub instead of lilo. Works beautifly now, no idea why lilo would hang and grub wouldnt but oh well, now to just learn linux...:study:

Nope..tried to install a eth0..killed everything. So i tried redhat 7.2, still giving me the same problem. Everythings fine, restart, and ithangs when configuring kernal paramaters, or right after. Whats going on? :smash: :smash: :smash:

hmm, did nothing and it let me in..but asked to take out my sound card config in kuduz(spelling). At least im in..hopefully when I restart it boots properly...sounds like my sound card is conflicting to me. :Pengy:
