Question Bootsplash - Slackware - Kernel 2.6.6 - NOT working

Hi!

I've been trying to get bootsplash working on my slackware system, without any success. I tried almost everything possible, but there must be something that i dont get, because its not working at all.

Here's the problem:
Bootsplash image not showing.
The frame-buffer is switching to the right resolution (800x600x16) but it seems that the ramdisk image created by the splash util is corrupted. Or maybe what is used by the splash util to create the ramdisk is not compatible anymore with the splash util (maybe a recent package upgrade, like devs or bin) or the ramdisk format has changed in the kernel (unlikely).

Here are all the info that I think are relevant :

distro : Slackware-current (updated with swaret)
glibc 2.3.2 / gcc 3.3.3
kernel: 2.6.6 vanilla
bootsplash patch: bootsplash-3.1.4-2.6.6.diff from bootsplash.de
bootsplash utils: bootsplash-3.1.tar.bz2 from suse ftp site
lilo 22.4.1

video card: nvidia geforce fx5200 with nvidia-binary drivers v.5336

----------------------------------------------

Kernel config:

CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM_SIZE=4096
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD=y
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y
CONFIG_FB=y
CONFIG_FB_VESA=y
# CONFIG_LOGO is not set
CONFIG_BOOTSPLASH=y

Ramdisk ON
Ramdisk size 4096
Initial ramdisk ON
Framebuffer ON
Vesafb ON
Standard Bootlogo OFF
Bootsplash ON

---I also tried enabling loopback block device but it doesnt change a thing.
I enabled ONLY the vesafb device.

how the initrd was created:

---Nothing special...

-----------------------------------------------------------

The 2 jpeg files were created in the Gimp with the following options:

Subsampling : 2x1x1
Optimize ON
Progressive OFF

-----------------------------------------------------------

The patch applied perfectly.
The splash util creates an image without any warnings or errors.

Voilà!
So, after all those checkpoints checked.... its still not working...

Is there something i forgot?
Bye!

Talking PROBLEM SOLVED

I dont know what was the solution exactly but its one of those thing:

Upgraded LILO from 22.4 to 22.5
Upgraded Kernel 2.6.6 to 2.6.7 (<--- Most likely)

Well... PROBLEM SOLVED!
